The Four Symbols

The Four Symbols (四象) are the guardians of the four cardinal directions and quadrants of the sky.

Azure Dragon — East

Guardian of spring, ruler of the 7 eastern mansions.

Vermillion Bird — South

Guardian of summer, ruler of the 7 southern mansions.

White Tiger — West

Guardian of autumn, ruler of the 7 western mansions.

Black Tortoise — North

Guardian of winter, ruler of the 7 northern mansions.
